Engelberg Titlis
Despite its location near to Zurich and Lucerne, Engelberg is not as well-known as other Swiss resorts but it can certainly hold its own with regards to facilities and sports opportunities.Take the world’s first rotating gondola up on to the Titlis glacier and enjoy spectacular 360 degree views of the central Alps, until you reach the top of Klein Titlis at an altitude of 3028m.
From there you can take the Ice Flyer chairlift to the Glacier Snow Park or ski down beautiful slopes into the valley below.
With wide, sweeping, clear runs, the Titlis glacier ski area is a paradise for enthusiastic beginners and intermediates and the equipment available at the Glacier Park, such as snow tubes and sledges offers plenty of variety for a summer holiday with a difference.
Zermatt
If you’re looking for great snow conditions and incomparable views of the mountains, then skiing on the Theodul Glacier at Zermatt is for you.The highest summer skiing location in the Alps, Zermatt offers skiers 36 square kilometres of snowfields with great snow, 21km of secured pistes and various ski lifts and cable cars to get you around.
The wide, well maintained glacier runs are particularly well suited to beginner and intermediate skiers, but there are runs of every level so everyone will find something to enjoy.
For snowboard fans, there is also the largest snowpark in Europe located on the glacier, so you’ll have no excuse to be out of practice when winter comes around again!
Glacier skiing is open all summer long, from May to November and remains open once the first winter snowfalls allow the rest of the Zermatt ski areas to open.
Saas-Fee
The charming resort of Saas-Fee offers a great variety of runs, both on and off piste, during the winter but the fun doesn’t stop in the summer season with excellent glacier skiing available.Up on the glacier, there are more than 20km of runs open throughout the warmer months and thanks to altitudes of up to 3500m, the snow is skiable throughout the summer.
Saas-Fee has an excellent network of cablecars, lifts and even an underground railway making it quick and easy to reach the glacier skiing area.
The resort has a good variety of runs for different levels of expertise as well as some stunning off-piste routes on the glaciers and down into the valley below.
