Zurich Zoo
The Zurich Zoo is an exciting day out for children of all ages, thanks to an exciting diversity of animals, as well as the Masoala Rainforest dedicated to preserving the biodiversity of Madagascar.
Highlights include feeding time for big cats, seals, penguins and apes, as well as regular presentations about all the many animals that live at the zoo. It’s unlikely anyone will get bored.
Wildnis park Sihlwald
The Sihl forest is an ancient beech forest that is an unlikely oasis in close proximity to Zurich. A great idea for a family day out that involves lots of fresh air and running around, the Wilderness Park has a visitor centre with a café and parking facilities.
It also has trails for hiking and biking in the woods, and regular events dedicated to learning more about the flora and fauna of the forest.
Tobelhof
Tobelhof is a lovely green oasis on the outskirts of Zurich, and can be reached in about 20 minutes by tram from the city. If you want to find a family-friendly lunch spot where children are firmly encouraged to run around to their heart’s content, this couldn’t be better.
Savour a delicious lunch under the large, shady trees while the kids enjoy the slide, climbing frame and sandpit and the excellent children’s menu.
Juckerhof Adventure Farm
Located on the banks of the Pfaffikersee, the Juckerhof Adventure Farm in Seegräben is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a day trip in and around Zurich.
Children can play and meet animals or explore the maze and there’s also seasonal pick-your-own fields an annual pumpkin exhibition to enjoy. The beautiful view of lake and mountains complete the experience and make it a lovely day out for all the family.
Short lake tour
Make the most of Zurich’s summer weather with a breezy lake cruise. Departing every half hour from Bürkliplatz in the city, the short round trip is ideal for families.
Make sure to ask for a ticket that will allow you to get on and off, and break up the journey by exploring the cute little villages that line the lake. A particular favourite is Küsnacht, which has a great playground a short stroll away from the pier along Hornweg.
