HIF Summer Camp is located high above the world at 1700m in the Swiss region of Lower Engadine, Grisons, on the doorstep of the Swiss National Park with its untouched landscape of mountains, forests and rivers. It is about two hours’ drive to the glacier skiing resorts and 10-minute drive to the thermal spa Bogn Engiadina Scuol.

Hochalpines Institut Ftan is a co-educational secondary school in Grisons offering a range of educational programmes in school years/grades 7 to 12 for students from all over the world. The school offers a variety of mentoring programs and boosts social competences among the students. It is accredited by the Canton of Graubünden to prepare and examine students for the Swiss Matura and by the Cambridge Assessment as centre for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). HIF is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

HIF Summer Camp is a unique summer camp experience with a wide range of outdoor activities and a language tuition program in Switzerland for children from across the world.

The summer programme takes place from 21st July till 3rd August 2019 and it is a blend of language courses, outdoor alpine adventure activities, and Swiss hospitality.

Your children can spend two adventure-packed weeks with friends from all over the world as follows:

  • Learn and practise your German or English skills in 30 weekly lessons.
  • Explore the Alps with its wild life and mountain peaks.
  • Discover new talents and help organise and lead an activity as a team member.
  • Develop the confidence to try out and practise rock climbing, river rafting, horseback riding and many more.

HIF has an exceptional learning environment and a unique curriculum that encourage 10-16 years old children to build their skills, acquire confidence and resilience while learning and having fun. It offers a variety of fun and effective language classes from the beginner to the advanced.

During study visits, there is an on-site language learning combined with international cooking classes, art, graffiti or poetry workshops and dinner events. The summer camp offers small classes and individual help for every student with a high-quality standard approach.

At HIF, the students are encouraged to live together and learn together. The mix of personalities, languages, and cultures has been designed to help children awaken self-esteem, social competence, and respect towards others. The students are taught to develop their creativeness, open-mindedness, and sense of responsibility. The camp environment is strictly marked by vitality and tolerance, with supervision, care and support around the clock by boarding house team.

Summer Programs:

HIF Summer Camp offers academic language programs for 5 days a week with 6 lessons per day. A day at the summer camp starts with language tuition in the morning. During this language classes, the campers learn new languages, build their new-found confidence and have practical conversations with their friends in English or German. The language classes are available at beginner and advanced level. The students are tested at the beginning of the course and grouped according to their level. With innovative techniques, audio and visual materials, the campers participate completely in learning the languages.

Sports, Arts, Fun Activities and Excursions:

HIF Summer Camp offers a wide range of activity programmes such as adventures, excursions, and sports in the beautiful mountains of the Lower Engadine. The students are taken on a day trip in the Bernina Express or an overnight stay at the Swiss National Park in a mountain hut. With a wide range of sport activities, there’s something for everyone within the school facilities and outside. The children are given the opportunity to explore some of the most popular landmarks and attraction in Switzerland during the summer time. They can also go on cultural trips to discover the culture of the Engadine, and also a traditional food tasting tour.
