Dr. Kish, what exactly is liposuction?Liposuction is one the most popular and most successful treatments in cosmetic medicine worldwide.
Put simply, it’s the process of removing excess fat from problem areas such as the hips, the legs, or the stomach, and harmonizes the whole silhouette.
Who would you recommend liposuction to?That depends on the person’s own wishes and where the person lives, along with many other things.
For example, if a long-term change in eating habits and exercise don’t achieve the desired result, then liposuction can be a quick and simple solution, and can lead to a lasting improvement in the way a person feels about his or her body.
Which methods do you recommend? We’ve specialized in liposuction by laser and ultrasound.
With our Smart/Laser Lipo and VASER (ultrasound) methods – which, by the way, are very popular in the U.S. – the fat is very gently removed without damaging tissues, muscles, or nerves.
How should a potential patient imagine the procedure? The procedure is done with the use of a local anesthetic through a 1-3 mm micro tube, which smoothly and easily melts away the fat cells.
Both techniques are very successful, guarantee excellent results, and leave behind very little swelling or pain with the possible exception of some slight muscle soreness.
In our Aesthetic Center, we achieve far better results through these techniques than through the classic tumescence technique of liposuction in which the fat cells are loosened up with a fluid and, with a little effort, are removed from the connective tissue.
In my experience, however, this method isn’t nearly as effective as high-tech laser or ultrasound treatments.

What results can patients expect?First of all, the patients have the right to get the most thorough individual consultations possible in order for them to accurately decide for themselves which method of liposuction is appropriate for them.
If the procedure is professionally done by a specialist, then after about six weeks, patients can expect a pleasing, aesthetic result. That’s our job and that’s what we concentrate on.
Are there scars after the operation?Generally, there are no scars because we use minimally invasive techniques with only the smallest possible incisions.
However, patients also have to do their part to help themselves heal optimally.
For example, they should avoid sunbathing, saunas, and tanning salons for at least six weeks.
Even after six weeks though, the affected areas should be protected from direct sun exposure with a high sun protection factor, which prevents a change in the pigment of the scar tissue and helps the scars heal to the point of invisibility.
How much does liposuction cost?Right now in cosmetic medicine, the costs and time required for operations and treatments depend very heavily on the individual desires and conditions of the patients, and because of that they can vary a lot from person to person.
Because of the fluctuation in price based on the person, any price I could quote you now would be unreliable without having previously seen the patient.
But I’m sure that our Aesthetic Center in Switzerland, given our commitment to such a high degree of excellence, is in a very good, very competitive position in terms of price.
