Does hair loss affect both men and women? While baldness is commonly associated with men, hair loss in women has increased over the last years for several reasons.
These include living and working under stressed conditions, over-use of hair chemicals, mechanical hair straightening, certain hair styles and aesthetic face surgery procedures like face lifts, which influence the hairline tremendously.
30% of our cases concern women who are facing one or some of the above mentioned conditions.
What causes hair loss?Hormonal factors, such as male-pattern baldness or female-pattern baldness are the primary cause.
Many medical conditions like thyroid problems, alopecia areata, scalp infections and other skin disorders can also cause hair loss.
It may also be a side effect of taking medication for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems or high blood pressure.
Other causes are physiological or emotional shock, hair pulling disorder and certain hair styles.
Can you do anything to prevent hair loss? The proscope evaluation test can be used as a prognostic tool for preventing hair loss, although not to stop hair from falling out.
This is based on the magnification of the scalp areas to examine and distinguish inflamed areas (active hair loss) or areas of pre-existing baldness (inactive hair loss).
We can also examine the quality of hair and its morphological characteristics (diameter, height, etc.)

What are the chances of restoring hair growth?Today, we strive to understand the hair growth physiology process. We have almost managed to prove that the hair follicular stem cells which are in a dormant phase might be activated under the effect of several growth factors.
Two of these are platelets rich plasma (PRP) and adipose tissue stem cells. In Swiss Luxury Clinic, we can apply PRP or stem cells as additional treatments to the hair transplant procedure. All these treatments may be applied under local or general anaesthetic.
